The Rojas Family has a unique way to showing their kids how to give.
The impact a Factory for Good has on your legacy is twofold:
- the actual change your factory makes to the cause to which you are contributing
- the involvement of your family in your values and actions, which can leave a lasting impression on them and future generations.
Here's an example of how the Rojas family used their Factory for Good to "help our kids focus on others and be service-oriented."
When each child turns twelve, they give them $1,000 to engage with a charity they feel passionate about. Each child is then asked to do a thorough research project exploring the causes they'd like to get involved with, present to the family why they want to support a specific cause and dedicate some time and money to the cause they have decided to support.

The father of the Rojas family told us in his own words how it is going:
It was a huge success. Our kids loved it! We started with our oldest, and when his younger siblings saw what he was doing, their twelfth birthday became a big deal and something everyone was looking forward to.
We decided to increase the grant to $5,000 when they turn sixteen and $10,000 when they turn eighteen. What started as a way to help our kids focus on giving of themselves and not concentrate on themselves turned into a multi-year giving boot camp. Now that most of our kids are older, they've naturally become active in our family giving strategy. We constantly talk about ways we want to give our time and money away effectively.
My wife and I love what this has evolved into: the tradition of giving established in our family and our relationship with our kids.
By meaningfully involving their children in their Factory for Good from a young age, the Rojas family was able to serve others at a greater scale and plant seeds of service and altruistic motives in their family members, which will, in turn, affect their family tree for generations.
